James Taylor and Carole King are igniting an excitement in the hearts of baby boomers. Their current tour certainly touches upon folksy sounds of eras past and provides a musical transport back to the 1970s. Their collaboration is undoubtedly a nostalgic experience for those who remember when a young, long-haired James was just getting his start in the industry and Carole King was helping to define an entire generation of hippie-minded parents. Both Taylor and King helped to spur a revolution of singer-songwriters during the 1970s and today remain music icons in the folk genre.

The pair recently stopped at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where they charmed audience members with a 29-song set list that included classics like "Fire and Rain," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and "So Far Away." For the entire evening the two songwriters complemented each other, offering fans a warm and pleasant atmosphere. As the New York Daily News said, "The connection that flowed between the stars last night transcended boomer cliches and made you wish these two singers would keep playing together just as long as they, and we, shall live." Don't pass up an opportunity to see a live show. Get your James Taylor tickets online as soon as possible.

James Taylor broke through the industry in 1970 with his album Sweet Baby James, thanks in part to the hit single "Fire and Rain," which explored his own personal experiences in mental institutions as a result of his previous heroin addictions. Sweet Baby James helped to ignite interest in his work and subsequently his self-titled debut album was released to critical and commercial praise. Within a year, James Taylor was the new face of the "singer/songwriter" movement that was taking hold of the industry during the early seventies.

His 1971 release Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon featured the popular song "You Got a Friend," written by Carole King. It shot up the charts to the number one spot and went gold. In addition he won a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the tune, another reminder that Taylor and King make a good team.

Taylor, whose most notable successes came in the early seventies, continued to issue new albums throughout the remainder of the decade, including One Man Dog, Walking Man, Gorilla and In the Pocket.

Throughout much of the following decades, Taylor concentrated on touring and although he did continue to record albums in the eighties and nineties they were fewer and farther between. His international appeal rose however because of his many live appearances around the globe.

In the 2000s, he released The Best of James Taylor as well as two "covers" albums and a holiday effort. He collaborated with Carole King on the concert CD/DVD set Troubadour Reunion which dropped in 2010. These days Taylor keeps busy by appealing to his longtime fans, as well as several new ones. Be sure to see where he will be playing next and get your concert tickets well in advance.
