Known around the world for creating everything from trucks to coaches, Mercedes-Benz are most widely known for the production of some of the most executive cars available on the market.

Founded initially in 1881 by Karl Benz, Benz is famous in the motor industry as not only being the founder of one of the most famous car manufacturers of all time, but for being the inventor of the petrol powered car.

With the first petrol car being patented in 1886 (information provided by the Edmunds car website), the company expanded continually decade upon decade, producing fantastic cars on a regular basis.

The latest offering that can be found in Mercedes-Benz dealers is the W212, which is the ninth generation model in the wider E-Class style. Hitting the forecourts of the dealers initially in July 2009, the W212 has received rave reviews in the industry, as well as various awards, including being the Best Looking Car In The World according to the AUTOBILD Magazine. It not difficult to understand why the car won that award, either, as the traditional design characteristics of the E-Class have been carried through to the latest model, although in a slightly more refined and sophisticated way, whilst bringing through a touch of traditional Mercedes-Benz style with the larger rear wheel arches.

The W212 is available in 4 different body styles, which are saloon, coupe, estate and convertible, with the latter reaching the European shores on 27 March 2010 after being unveiled at the North American Auto Show on 11 January 2010. Whilst the convertible is expected to be subject to much publicity, the saloon is said by many to remain as the most popular choice, as it exudes that executive feel that a lot of buyers are after.

In addition to the 4 different body styles, the W212 also features 3 separate transmission types across the styles, as well as 6 different engine choices. In terms of the transmission, there are 5 and 7 speed automatics available, as well as 6 speed manual and regarding the engine sizes, they range from a 1.8 turbocharged petrol engine to 3 litre V6 diesel and a powerhouse 6.2l V8.

One of the reasons why this model of the ninth generation E-Class is so popular is that it features some particularly innovative inclusions, all of which are recommended to be checked out at any local Mercedes-Benz dealers, especially if you are sat on the fence as to whether to buy one or not.

For instance, the W212 features the fantastic technology known as Night View Assist Plus, which has been picked up by the press as being the equivalent to night vision. Working by producing an image on a screen of the area in front of the car that is not immediately visible to the driver (i.e., past the field of vision that the headlights provide at night), the system is said to enhance the safety of both the driver and others around them and is expected by many to become a popular feature in cars over the coming years.

Mercedes-Benz cars have always been popular, largely because of the comfort and style that they offer. Available in a range of different price tags, the latest E-Class model comes in at a comfortable and affordable 27,570 pounds according to Mercedes-Benz themselves. Whilst this price tag may not be the cheapest of any new car you can purchase, it will guarantee that you receive one of the best looking and most luxurious cars currently on the market.
