Health Care Is A Big Deal

Over the last year there has been one thing on the President's agenda to change for everyone and that is the health care reform. The challenge is that everyone recognizes that it is a big problem, but no one seems to have the perfect answer on how to solve the problem. There are several aspects to health care and everyone has their own story and side to the situation.

There are those that want to have health insurance, but can't afford it. It is so expensive that it has become something that isn't even an option for some families. Then there are those that want insurance and are willing to pay whatever price they have to, but due to their health no one wants to insure them. Then there are those that can afford insurance for their family, but find that there isn't very much that is really covered so the bottom line is individual coverage doesn't cover very much.

A whole different aspect to the health insurance is for businesses. There are two sides to the coin on employee insurance. As an employee that is one thing you look for when you are looking for a job. In fact for those that have been laid off over the last couple of years that is one of the first things you will hear people talk about. It's almost like the health insurance is worth more than the paycheck.

For the employer it is one more cost they have to consider when they are hiring an employee. They have an obligation to pay a percentage of an employee's insurance when they are hired full time and they can't choose who they offer it to. The downfall to that is that if they know of an employee that has extreme medical circumstances it makes the entire policy have higher rates. That even affects the business owner's own personal insurance.

Due to the health of their employees affecting the policy rates many companies have decided to take on different programs to help improve the health of their employees. Some companies might have competitions to help employees reduce their weight and stay healthy. For other's they might have incentives for weight loss. Many employers have found that besides reducing health care costs they have had healthier employees and had them at work more than at home sick.

Despite the challenges of the overall health care plan for the entire nation businesses have taken things into their own hands and have helped their employees get healthier.
