There are a lot of reasons that medical care has become so expensive. Last year the government passed a bill which will alter virtually every aspect of our health care system. The reason that this legislation was viewed as necessary is that many people in the nation are unable to afford the expense of health care insurance and are getting sick. This is a very bad thing because a certain percentage of these people will eventually get sick or have an accident and without medical coverage the bills from the treatments for these conditions will be astronomical. Most of the time people in this situation are unable to pay the bills and therefore go bankrupt or just default on the resulting debt. When this happens hospitals and other medical centers have to raise prices on their services to compensate for the bad debts.
One reason why medical costs are going up so much is that there are companies that are constantly innovating new products that sometimes drastically improve the quality of medical care but are very expensive to develop. Take for instance a medical invention that allows for a prosthetic limb to be grafted onto the bone of an individual and then protrude out of the body in the same fashion that a deer's antler protrudes from the body. This is a new invention that has just hit the market and is going to drastically improve the quality of life for many amputees but the cost of the procedure is no doubt going to be extremely expensive. The United States has some of the best health care technology available but it is not inexpensive.
Another reason that medical care is so expensive is the training that medical professionals have to go through in order to become doctors. It takes nearly a decade now to actually become a medical professional and for many the training process lasts longer than that. In addition, the doctors have literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans that they must pay on once they are in their careers as well as malpractice insurance and other expenses. This means that they must pass that expense onto their customers and this is one reason that the bills for medical care can be so high. Doctors do make a high salary on average but the truth is that we wouldn't want it any other way. We want to make sure that we receive quality care and therefore doctors need to make a lot.
