I have a really close friend that chooses to park far away from any other car. She doesn't only look at where there are a few empty spaces, but she parks clear out in the far spots of a parking lot with hopes that nobody will ever park by her car. One time I went with her somewhere and she parked clear out in the parking lot. I asked her why she did this and jokingly asked her if she did this so that she could get exercise. She said that is a benefit to parking so far away, but she said that the reason she did this was because she hated all of the dings and chips in her car from the cars that park next to her.
I thought she had a great point. I thought about all of the times that I would get out of my car and carefully hold onto my door to get out of my car so that I wouldn't hit the other car. Then there were times that my children would hurry and jump out of the car and swing the door open and hit the car next to us. I would feel terrible about it. Then I would come out to my car and see a ding or scratch from shopping carts or other doors hitting my car.
I have commented several times that it would be nice to have something to protect our cars from these things. Something that wouldn't cost a fortune, look nice on our cars and be an easy fix. I was saying this to one of my friends and she asked if I had ever heard of body side molding. I had never heard of body side molding, but she said that it was the perfect fix for these things. She said that it is not very expensive when you consider the cost of repairing dents and chips and the decrease in value on our vehicles.
I was asking her if the body side molding was something that I would have to go to a body shop to have installed. Immediately I was thinking that not very expensive was relative. The great news was that we didn't have to go to a body shop to have body side molding put on. It was something that I could order and do myself. The body side molding was easy to put on the car and it would protect my car from the dents and dings from shopping carts and door dings.
