Summer is here, which means that all of those outdoor tasks you put off during the winter months need to be tackled. Whether you are taking down those Christmas lights you put up last year or trimming overgrown trees, chances are you will need some assistance completing these tasks. So, with that in mind, what is the one piece of equipment that will be indispensable to you? The answer: an aerial lift. This piece of machinery is easy to operate and it allows you to complete any task that requires height assistance.

When you rent an aerial lift you need to decide what type of tasks you will be completing. There are aerial lifts that are specialized for maximum height and others that cater to very specific jobs. So, first off, determine what types of jobs you will need the equipment for. But also keep in mind that there are machines that offer the flexibility of the smaller machines with the height of the other machines.

Say, for example, that you want to remove your old Christmas lights that you put up last year. In this case you will need to find a machine that not only has up and down movement, but one that also offers lateral movements. Think about it: you will only be able to remove a section of lights at a time if you can't move left to right; which means that you would have to lower your lift, move it a few feet over, and then raise the lift again. This would make the entire process of removing your lights tedious and time consuming. If, however, you find a machine that moves laterally then you can raise the aerial lift to the height you need and move left or right, effectively removing a large section of lights without lowering yourself to the ground every time you want to move on to a new section.

If, on the other hand, you are simply going to be trimming branches off of one of your trees, then you don't need that lateral movement that some machines offer. You can simply rent a machine that has up and down movement and save yourself the money of renting a more expensive machine and the time it takes to learn how to operate such equipment.

The main thing you need to do when pinpointing which machine will work best for you is to really think about the tasks you will be completing. Find a functional machine that fits your budget and you will be well on your way to getting all your yard work done in no time!
