Lady Antebellum is currently the second act on the bill-after the opening act and just before the headliner-on Tim McGraw's Southern Voice Tour, but the group is already looking forward to the day when they will headline their very own tour. McGraw's road trip kicked off in Omaha, Neb. on Feb. 10, and the trio recently spoke to The Boot about how being the middle act affords them the opportunity to perform for a longer amount of time-thus building up their repertoire to eventually headline their own tour.
Lady Antebellum's guitarist/pianist Dave Haywood told The Boot, "We've been in rehearsals the last few days. We're big fans of Tim's, and the Lost Trailers and Love and Theft, who will be out with us at different times through the tour." The Lost Trailers will open dates through April 10 and then Love and Theft will pick up where they leave off, opening from April 11 through Aug. 7. Tim McGraw's Southern Voice Tour will weave its way through the U.S. and Canada-stopping in cities like New Orleans, Houston, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta, Phoenix, Little Rock and Salt Lake City-for 60 dates before coming to a close in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Aug. 7.
Need You Now, Lady A's new album, is currently sitting pretty on both the Billboard country albums chart and the all-country albums chart, moving 481,000 units. The effort gives Lady Antebellum the biggest debut sales week for any album since Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream topped the same chart last November with 701,000 copies sold. Need You Now is the follow-up to the trio's self-titled sophomore album and it arrived on Jan. 26, featuring a sleek cover with the trio posing in all-black clothing.
The title track off Need You Now recently ended its five-week stint at No. 1, but it was another No. 1 single that Lady A singer Charles Kelley gushed about to The Boot. Kelley co-wrote Luke Bryan's "Do I" with Dave and Luke and said, "You know what's really cool is that in our live show we have a moment where we strop it down and we do a couple acoustic songs, and one of them is 'Do I.' That song never fails to get the biggest reaction of anything we do all night, which is a little bittersweet for us. It's amazing to see just how truly powerful that song has been and how country fans have gravitated toward it. They sing back every word..." Since landing in the country music capital of Nashville just four years ago, Lady Antebellum has become one of the most promising acts in the genre. The trio took home its first Grammy for its first album single "I Run to You" at the recent awards show, held in Los Angeles on Jan. 31. The award came on the heels of winning Single of the Year (also for "I Run to You") and Vocal Group of the Year at the CMA Awards and Lady A is poised to rack up more awards in the future.
