The three wheel electric bike, or "trike", can be enjoyed by all age groups but considering the statistics on baby boomers, this baby has an excellent future.
The bike is gaining popularity among baby boomers that are not quite ready for a full mobility type scooter.

One out of four Americans is a baby boomer, making them the largest population group in U.S. history and unlike our elders in the past, baby boomers are more health conscious and are becoming more environmentally aware. The 3 wheel electric bike provides the perfect opportunity for safely staying mobile and fit, when driving or 2 wheeled cycling is no longer an option.

According to the US Dept. of Health & Human Services, approximately 77 million babies were born in the U.S. during the years of 1946-1964. That means that 1 in 4 Americans is a baby boomer. What is even more important to note is that half of all baby boomers and 2/3 of younger boomers have children under 18 living in their household.

It has provided one avenue for aging caregivers to stay abreast on outdoor activities with their loved ones, all the while increasing their mobility in a fun and beneficial way. The AARP has reported that 1/3 of boomers care for an older parent as well. While some of these boomers are no longer able to drive, and need a safe and fast way to run short errands, the three wheel electric bike does the job, reaching speeds of up to 20 mph compared to only 5mph on the average scooter.

The 3 wheel bike has also taken the stress and strain out of cycling for everyone who wants to enjoy a non-polluting powered mode of transport. Simply walk in, sit, and go! You can pedal normally or pedal with power to get just the right amount of exercise with maximum amount of comfort.

Overall, electric trikes are perfect for those who:
-Need neighborhood transportation that can't drive a car
-Are baby boomers that wish to work in their yard or garden or need assistance keeping up with loved ones on daily strolls
-Wish to take others with them
-Want to take the stress and strain out of normal cycling
-Need extra cargo space for groceries and other daily necessities
-Want to kick back for a little exercise without worrying about balancing or maneuvering problems that come with regular cycling
-Wish to contribute to a greener environment

Just as with any other electric bicycle, the three wheel electric bike is classed as a bicycle and requires no driver's license or registration, and if it complies with your State regulations, absolutely no taxes are involved as well. It is important that you check with your own State's requirements as to the weight, speed, and motor voltage regulations before purchasing any bicycle as they vary from State to State.
