First off, you need to know that a dissertation paper is one of the toughest assignments in college. If you think that you can write this in the very last minute of the day before it is due, then you are on your way to failing the course. If you think a dissertation paper is just like your regular term paper for English 101, you are going to be stuck in graduate school for a very long time.

You're going to find out how to write a dissertation effectively here:

.) You need to plan ahead - this might sound like common sense, but rarely do students take this approach to succeed. Even if you have a week before the dissertation is due, you will be in for a surprise to find out that spending 24 hours a day for the last seven days will not be enough to work on this paper.

.) When you have figured out what you want to write, look for recent scholarly journals that are within three years. If you look for something that's been over a decade old, you might find a lot of flaws in the paper because what is valid back then might not be true today.

.) Your first paragraph in the dissertation writing should simply just explain what the problem is. This should not be more than four to five sentences long, and should be straight to the point without the added fluff.

.) Your second paragraph should tell the audience why this is a problem. You want to talk about how to solve the problem here. What are the obstacles to overcome the problem? When you read other scholarly journals on the same issue, are you able to find a better argument over theirs?

.) Next paragraph should be about what you will do to solve the problem, and why your method is better than any others out there. If you have case studies, this is definitely a bonus to strengthen your dissertation paper.

.) After everything has been solved, what happens next? What are the consequences to your actions? Why should people care about what happens?

.) Your title should be short and straight to the point. It is recommended that it should be no more than seven to eight words long.

.) You should always start off with an outline before you begin writing a dissertation. Each point in the outline could be as simple as one small word.

.) The introduction should motivate your audience to keep on reading. If it does not capture the audience, then you will have a very hard time keeping your audience's attention as they will easily move on.

.) Just because a dissertation is for graduate students; that does not mean you should fill the paper with ridiculously big words. Always stick to plain English to keep things simple.

.) You need to mention all the previous and recent works that are related to your dissertation paper. If you forget to cite even one source, then you will be sure to get an "F" for the dissertation.
