Bloomington, Indiana's own all-male a cappella group likes it 'straight no chaser,' and starting in April the famed outfit Straight No Chaser also prefers it 'with a twist,' as the 10-member group has released an album of pop covers under the same name. With a Twist dropped April 13, and the classy covers album has already garnered attention, sparking a much-anticipated nationwide tour this spring, as well.

With a Twist, Straight No Chaser's fifth studio album, has already gone off with a bang thanks to the group's recent television special "Straight No Chaser: Live in New York," which gave a sneak peek at tracks on the album with covers of songs such as the Judy Garland classic "Over the Rainbow." Other songs on Straight No Chaser's forthcoming album include Coldplay's "Fix You," Oasis' "Wonderwall," Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under the Bridge" and even Barry Manilow's "One Voice," with Manilow teaming up with the a cappella group to contribute guest vocals to the track.

On April 5, just a week before With a Twist became available to the public, Straight No Chaser launched a springtime tour with sold-out back-to-back shows in Boulder, Colo. Subsequent tour dates around the country have made Straight No Chaser tickets hot commodities on the concert scene this spring, and tickets will continue to sell like crazy online as the band's forthcoming album steals the spotlight in mid-April.

For Straight No Chaser, fame as a pop-propelled a cappella group has come slowly but not without warranted effort. The soothing all-male a cappella outfit broke the mold while forming at Indiana University in 1996, rising to fame on campus as a modern choral outfit with a penchant for performing more pop-based tunes rather than taking the traditional route of most a cappella groups. Serving as a phenomenal campus group, Straight No Chaser was hailed a success in southern Indiana but didn't immediately catch on to the nationwide public.

In fact, it wasn't until 2006 - long after members of the choral group had graduated from IU - that Straight No Chaser cracked the mainstream music industry. The crew was discovered after Internet footage ignited featuring the a cappella group performing a rendition of "The 12 Days of Christmas" imitating Toto's "Africa" during a reunion concert for original members on IU's campus.

The online streaming video caught the attention of Atlantic Records execs, and the a cappella group shortly thereafter inked a contract with the recording company, issuing their first major-label release Holiday Spirits in 2008. The harmonic crew next released Christmas Cheers in 2009, and the forthcoming album With a Twist will be Straight No Chaser's third studio release with Atlantic, marking their mainstay status on the music scene.

Catching their second wind in the mid-2000s, Straight No Chaser is now a bona fide nationwide success and continues to gain fans across the boards as their music remains on the rise. Concert tickets to Straight No Chaser performances sell out quickly at venues across the country, and there's little doubt that Straight No Chaser, a true success story out of Indiana University, has helped lead the force for the current trend of modern a cappella groups.
