Lady Gaga Tickets - Gaga Goes for the Gore

How far can you push an audience before they start to push back? Lady Gaga seems willing to find out.

Never a wallflower, the outrageous 24-year-old craves the spotlight, and often wears revealing or bizarre outfits that provoke stares, gawks and gasps. Her live stage shows go even further, turning clubland pop music into performance art. The latest example came in early June, when she held a concert at Manchester's MEN Arena.

Gaga provoke some real shock among the audience, or so The Sun would have you believe. The stadium was packed with 15,000 people, and quite a few of them came away with hands over their children's eyes. What drained the blood from their faces? The blood on the stage.

Garbed in a low-cut dress, Gaga went through the motions with her dance crew until one of them bit into her neck, allowing a stream of fake blood to drizzle down over her chest. She writhed, went limp, and apparently "died"-at which point the team of backup dancers crawled over to her and began pretending to devour her body.

Undoubtedly this simply reenacted the fantasies of countless back-up dancers from throughout the ages: To kill and eat the star who has been ordering you around. But The Sun reports some adults in the audience were disturbed by the performance.

"I'm a huge fan but was shocked like everyone else," said 24-year-old Lydia Haines. "It was sick, especially after what happened in Bradford and Cumbria. It was just over the top and gory."

Haines was referring to two tragic incidents that occurred recently in the U.K. In Bradford, Stephen Griffiths, a student of criminology studying serial killing was arrested for the murders of several prostitutes. In Cumbria, Derrick Bird, a taxi driver, went on a shooting spree that left a dozen people dead and even more wounded.

It was certainly poor timing, with Griffiths' arrest in late May and the Bird killings on June 2-the same day as the Gaga concert. Any other time, it could probably be chalked up to Gaga's eccentricity and need for provocation. But with the events so close in people's memories, it triggered some virulent responses from a few fans.

Of course, The Sun's story only includes quotes from two fans-one of whom declined to give their name. There's no telling if it provoked the same feelings of outrage in the rest of the crowd, or whether they just saw it as the usual theatrics that Gaga is known for.

There's also a question of what's appropriate for a Gaga concert. Most of her fans are teens and young women. For parents who have brought their children, it could certainly be more worrying than for women in their early 20s who know when to take Gaga seriously.

What is guaranteed is that her show will certainly get a response from people. Her shows might not be for everyone, but for those who love her style, Lady Gaga tickets are available online.
