Trace Adkins is a touring machine. The swaggering country music-singing tough guy has been making headlines around the country over the last couple months as he jumps around the nation on his joint headlining Shine All Night Tour with Martina McBride, and the "You're Gonna Miss This" vocalist has a lot more in the works for 2010 than just his current Shine All Night gig.
The Shine All Night Tour will pull the plug on May 2 in Columbia S.C., but Adkins' last show on the tour will be April 25 in Roanoke, Va., and he will thereafter be succeeded by Blake Shelton for the final three shows. This early departure from the Shine All Night Tour seemed strange to fans of the rough-and-ready vocalist, but now it's clear why. Toby Keith, Adkins' touring mate from 2009's America's Toughest Tour and the head of Show Dog-Nashville, Adkins' new label, has announced his 2010 American Ride Tour, and Adkins will spend all summer on tour with the fellow Southern gem.
Keith tapped Adkins for his upcoming jaunt, which will run from mid-June to late September, and while it's rare for two individual musicians to play together on separate tours two years in a row, there's no better partnership than that of these two tough musicians. Their traditional-meets-country music style and sometimes risque songs have made Toby Keith and Trace Adkins two of a kind on the country circuit, and they'll give the nation Round Two this summer as the country music pair teams up yet again for a North American tour, which will have fans lining up to get Trace Adkins tickets to shows over the next few months.
For Trace Adkins, there's no better touring partner than Toby Keith, and there is more than one parallel to their respective stories. Adkins, just like Keith, grew up in the South and played semi-pro football before working on the oil rigs in his twenties. Eventually capitalizing upon his musical dream, Adkins played the honky-tonk circuits in Louisiana before making the move to Nashville. Boasting a traditional flair to meet the growing contemporary country music trend, Adkins quickly scored a record deal in Music City and released his debut album Dreamin' Out Loud in 1996 (three years after Toby Keith's debut).
Harboring the Top Five singles "Every Light in the House," "I Left Something Turned on at Home" and "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing," Dreamin' Out Loud became an instant hit in Nashville, and Trace Adkins had officially hit the country music jackpot. Adkins has since released several No. 1s on the country music charts, including "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "You're Gonna Miss This." His fun-loving tunes like "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" and "Rough & Ready" have made his concerts absolute crowd-pleasers, and 2010's American Ride Tour with Toby Keith will give this "Marry for Money" vocalist another go-around in the spotlight.
Coming off the hit single "All I Ask for Anymore," Trace Adkins is one smooth-crooning vocalist, and his Shine All Night Tour is nothing compared to the rambunctious party the American Ride Tour promises. Trace Adkins fans can still head online for concert tickets to this summer's many performances.
