Here are tips to follow to make sure that you do a great job in writing your essay:
1.) You will be surprised to find out that many students do not answer the question properly to the question that was asked in the essay. Some teachers might not offer a second chance or even a passing grade for writing off-topic. No matter how smart you are, if the essay that you are assigned is not properly written because you wanted to go off-topic, you will most likely get a bad or failing grade.
2.) You will need to be original when writing the essay. You can be assigned a very boring topic, such as space aliens, that you have no interest in, and you can still make the paper very interesting to read for your teacher.
3.) Never try to write the essay as if you are somebody else. Often times, students try to impress the professor with huge vocabulary words that the students are not even familiar with. Sometimes, you will write words that do not even make any sense because they are the wrong words to be used at the time. You are better off sticking to the basics so the college essay is readable, and most importantly, so that you can get a good grade.
4.) If you are not great in imagery, then do not try to make colorful descriptions of what you are trying to write in the paper. What works for a creative student might not work for you. The paper should not confuse your teacher because you are trying to be too fancy.
5.) The introduction to your college essay is usually the part that you spend the most time on. This is when you are just sitting there and thinking about what on earth you are going to write about. This is why you should have a brainstorming list as well as a detailed outline.
6.) The body paragraph of your college essay should relate to your introduction. Do not start creating new ideas that were not introduced in the first paragraph. Your first paragraph should discuss briefly about what you are going to write about, and then in the body paragraphs, you will write about what you briefly discussed in the introduction.
7.) The conclusion should not have new points that were not stated in the introduction or the body of the paragraphs. The conclusion should simply wrap up what you have stated in the paragraphs that are above the last paragraph. This can be a very short summary of what you have been writing about the whole time.
8.) Proofread your work, as many students would just rush to get the paper done especially when they do it in the last minute. Never work on your college essay in the last minute because you might not have time to write an excellent paper that will be flawless from errors.
