Printers requiring toner must have it in place before the print job is sent to the device. When there is not enough toner available, the machine will first print lighter than usual, then begin to streak. Eventually, the coloring will be so light and faded that it may be illegible. Finally, the printer will cease to function. A business without quality printing equipment is a business in trouble. Clients look at the quality of work to gain an impression of the company from information and copies received or printed. A faded or streaked printed product is of lesser quality and makes them look inferior and unreliable.

Most printer manufacturers recommend using equipment specifically made for the printer. Reliable compatible toner cartridges of a generic nature are available for certain models and can be used instead. Whichever type of product is used, the consumer should make sure that the machine is never without a replacement. As a result, it is usually a wise practice to order two at once, so that the user is never without this important component to printing.

Types

Toner manufacturers make and provide two types. They are bottled and cartridges. The best type and more costly of the two is the cartridge. The cartridge is the one most printer, copier and fax machine manufacturers recommend. While some consider this the more difficult, it is by far more dependable. The cartridge is generally used in laser printers and in fax machines. The user simply places an order for the product compatible with their printers, such as 9400 toner, 9800 toner, 7760 toner, or something similar. The least expensive and less dependable, as far as quality and consistency of color is concerned, is the bottle method.

How to Use Bottled

Ease of use might be the determining factor when some customers make their purchase. Bottled is uncapped, poured into a chamber and then it is ready for action. There is a mess when the individual pouring happens to miss the mark. If toner spills onto the floor, into carpet or on clothing, it can be costly and difficult to clean. Bottled toner is harder to find and is on the verge of being totally discontinued.

How to Use Cartridges

Using the more dependable, higher quality cartridge can be daunting for the novice. However, after doing it once, the individual should be well aware of the method and have no problem using or replacing it when necessary. One simply removes the chamber from the copier; replaces the cartridge into a drum or specific compartment, and replaces the drum within the copier. The chamber is then closed. There should be no spillage, unless a faulty closure is the problem or the individual does not follow the recommended instructions.
