Steel is probably your best option for the type of material for your shed because it is very low in cost compared to other materials and it can be painted whatever color you want very easily. Steel also stands up a lot better to high winds and is perfect for areas that are known to have a lot of high winds.
Once you have decided where you want the shed to be constructed and how large you want it, you can go purchase the kit that suits the area you need it for. Since these kits generally do not come with floors you will need to build a solid foundation for it.
You will need to dig yourself a hole that is at least 6 inches deep and it should be several inches wider as well as longer than the shed itself. Once you have done this, you will need to fill the hole with about four inches of gravel that is about pea sized. Take two by fours and build your concrete forms around the area of where the shed will stand.
After this is done, take concrete, follow the mixing instructions and then pour about four inches of concrete on top of your gravel. You can smooth down the concrete with a piece of wood. You will need to let the concrete dry for about a week before you can construct your steel shed.
When you are ready to construct the shed you should start with laying the floor tracks out and put them together by attaching them to one another just do not attach them to the concrete slab at this point. Take the fasteners that come with the kit of the frame and go a head and install each wall panel by attaching them to each other through the predrilled holes. The floor tracks can be put on the slab and then attach the wall panels.
Next is the roof panels which you should lay out and hook together as well, these will be attached to the roof framing members. Now screw the roof panels to the walls. You can now attach the door by sliding it into place and screw the screws into the jamb to attach it to the wall frame.
Once all of this is done you can then take lag bolts and anchor all of the corners the shed to the concrete slab. This is to make sure that the shed stays exactly where you want it on the concrete flooring. This will also help keep the shed sturdy against high winds.
