Save Money On Vacation When Eating At Hotel Restaurants

Sometimes when people take a vacation they stay with family or rent a house. However, often people stay in a hotel. Some hotels are the most basic while others can be very fancy. In most cases, it's a comfortable place to spend the night when you are away from home.

Hotels often offer a continental breakfast to guests, or you can buy your own. The free breakfast often includes cold items such as bagels, rolls, fruit, etc. On occasion, you can get a higher quality breakfast serving hot foods such as eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. What do you do for all the rest of the meals? You can eat at fast food restaurants, but eating too much fast food is not only unhealthy, it starts tasting bad eventually if you eat it too often.

If you are heading back to your hotel after a long day of fun, you may feel too tired to go out to any kind of restaurant. That is when hotel restaurants become a big convenience. Usually, you just have to walk down to the lobby and you can eat there. Smaller hotels with the bare basics or motels might not have a restaurant, but high end hotels and other hotels usually do have a restaurant. The only problem is that these restaurants can be expensive. How can you save money when eating at a hotel restaurant?

First, always check the prices beforehand. When you get back to your hotel, ask the host or hostess if you can take a quick look at the menu. Usually, if the prices aren't listed, that means it's very expensive. If you have to ask, you can't afford it. Hopefully the restaurant is a little more accommodating to its guests. If possible, take a menu back to your hotel room so you and your family can choose what you want and plan out a less expensive course. Talk to your hotel manager to see if there are any meal discounts for hotel guests or if there are any coupons available.

When you get to the restaurant, skip appetizers and drink water. These are healthier choices and much less expensive. Also, if you really want dessert, stop at a nice shop on your way back to the hotel for a tasty dessert to take to the hotel room instead of spending much more on individual desserts at the restaurant.

If the meals are large, ask if you can share a meal with someone you are with. If you don't finish your meal, it doesn't make much sense to take leftovers because you aren't going home with a refrigerator and microwave and time to eat it. Splitting a meal is half the price and ensures no food will be wasted. The best way to save money at any restaurant is to avoid paying for food you don't want or need and taking advantage of discounts. MilsomHotels.com
