When deciding the all important answer to the question of what kind of bridesmaid shoes you will have for your wedding, you are presented with two options. These two options are either have your bridal party select their favorite shoes or leave the decision for yourself to make.
A consideration you need to make before choosing the shoes is the bridal party's dresses. The first thing to consider is whether your bridesmaid dresses are shorter or longer. Will the bridal party's shoes be visible when walking down the aisle or when dancing at the reception?
Decision: Bridesmaids
If the dresses are full-length, some brides give their bridesmaids the option of wearing whatever shoe they want. Reason being is because nobody will actually even be able to see the shoes. Likewise, even if the bridesmaid's dresses are shorter, the bride may be receptive to bridesmaid's selecting their own shoes. Some brides might even encourage the bridal party to choose their own shoes, as long as they are comfortable, tasteful and of course matching.
Opting To Have The Bride Decide
On the other hand, some brides will make the decision of which shoes the girls will wear. Some of the reasons behind this decision may vary from brides wanting the bridesmaids to lookall the same, or the bride wanting the bridal party to have a cute photograph taken of their shoes together.
Things To Consider
There are some stories about how the bride regrets letting the girls make their own decision when it came to the shoes. Take the bridesmaid that selects a shoe color choice that completely does not match with her dress, or the bridesmaid that decided to choose flip-flops to wear with her not so full-length dress to your formal wedding, and don't try to act like you would be cool with a bridesmaid coming down the aisle in tennis shoes because she "didn't want her feet to hurt."
On the flip-side, if a bride chooses the bridesmaid's shoes, there may still be ramifications like: finding many pairs of the same shoe in different sizes and same color can be a challenge, the possibility of your bridesmaids getting upset for not allowing them to make the decision, or causing your bridesmaids agony over uncomfortable shoe height.
You hold the final say so in this all important task. Keep your bridal party in mind and what you feel would be best for them, but either way, remember that your girls are there to support you on this very special day.
