Parents and educators both agree that there is nothing more important to any child than their education, as well as continued education throughout ones own adolescence. Even though there are no children who are alike with each other, no matter what grade, standards based education is present in a lot of second grade curriculum throughout the united states educational system. Because math is of the highest importance with regard to which subjects children are introduced, basic concepts are introduced to children in the classroom at a young age.
These basic concepts include identifying numbers, depending, recognizing sequences, creating patterns, adding, and subtracting. Some students, though, need adaptive learning in order to grasp and continue to learn these concepts that are the foundation for future learning. Educators are regularly doing work toward implementing ways for students to continue achieving through adaptive learning by adding computer software, handheld appliances, tablets, and many other forms of technology within their classrooms. The challenge is learning these new software programs, as well as similar technologies, in order to ensure students have a firm grasp on how to use it and how to further enhance their educational goals along the way.
In second grade, educators are placing focus on solving math solutions during day-to-day problems in addition to addressing textbook studies. These problems include utilizing word problems in order to help students grasp basic math concepts and employ creative and strategic thinking on a daily basis. However, students unable to keep up with the rest of the class benefit from adaptive learning technology, which includes different paths through the curriculum based on each child's needs.
Adaptive learning enhances second grade math in that these programs not only incorporate what students learn in textbooks, but utilization of finding solutions for everyday math word problems are present. Some students learn better when they are able to read, either aloud or in the head, the work presented to them in the adaptive online learning software. There are also opportunities for students to work together in groups in the direction of achieving better scores, as well as achieving a better understanding of the material in front of them. These group sessions sometimes provide a competitive edge, too, which further encourages the student's success.
It isn't uncommon for a student to feel not secure about their inability to grasp math concepts immediately, and this is another are where adaptive learning enhances second grade math. Each student receives their own account, and is able to work privately on their math problems without feeling competitive with students in the classroom. There are several math games that encourage competition but, for those students who prefer working on their own, they're able to do so without feeling left out or far behind the rest of the classroom.
