Advantages Of Network Clock Systems For Businesses

Now that pretty much every business has an internal LAN, many organizations are implementing clock systems tied to the network. These LED digital clocks are clearly viewable, easy to install and provide many benefits to the company.

Synchronization

Years ago, timekeeping was an approximate affair. Unless you were running a railroad, the difference between 11:55 and 12:05 wasn't worth worrying about; call it noon and it's close enough. Today that's no longer true. Business operates in a faster paced environment and lost time is lost productivity.

With network clock systems, all LED digital clocks are tied into the company Ethernet and receive the same time signal. That means you know every time display across the corporate campus reads exactly the same time. No longer are employees late to meetings because a watch was slow. Shift changes can be synchronized exactly even at far distant parts of a manufacturing plant, ensuring there is no work stoppage. Everyone in the company is running on the same timeline and can easily coordinate activities.

Ease Of Maintenance

Business productivity drops during two events: daylight saving time and power failures -- the reason being that during these times, every single timepiece in the company has to be reset. Under older technology, even a brief power interruption could cause all LED digital clocks to flash 12:00. As for time changes, it is true some clocks can automatically adjust for daylight saving time without a network connection but many of these older devices became obsolete in 2007 when the new daylight saving rules went into effect.

Centralized clock systems allow all time displays to update from a central signal. This means if the power fails, as soon as it comes back the displays reset to the right time. When it's time to spring forward or fall back, the displays adjust themselves with no need for intervention.

Save Energy, Save Money, Save The Planet

Clock systems that run off PoE (Power Over Ethernet) use far less power than other timepieces. Both AC and DC clocks tend to draw far more wattage than needed while PoE LED digital clocks run off the small amount of power available in Ethernet connections. This is the same power source used for VoIP phones or webcams.

Today, Ethernet ports are at least as common as power sockets making installation of new clocks as easy as plugging them in. There is no need to add them to already overloaded power strips. Less power means lower utility costs for the company as well as reduced company carbon footprint. Nor do these devices run off batteries that need to be replaced constantly, only to end up leaking lead and other toxins into our landfills.

When companies update their timekeeping capabilities to the newest generation of Power Over Ethernet LED digital clocks, they enter a new age of efficiency.
