Years ago, timekeeping was an approximate affair. Unless you were running a railroad, the difference between 11:55 and 12:05 wasn't worth worrying about; call it noon and it's close enough. Today, Ethernet ports are at least as common as power sockets making installation of new clocks as easy as plugging them in. There is no need to add them to already overloaded power strips. Less power means lower utility costs for the company as well as reduced company carbon footprint. Nor do these devices run off batteries that need to be replaced constantly, only to end up leaking lead and other toxins into our landfills.
