There are several people who are very creative and want to share their talents with everyone else. Whether it is their music, crafts, designs, art, or photography, they want to let people know what they are capable of and get them interested in their services.
I have a friend who is very talented at scrapbooking. She has practice doing it her whole life and really enjoys it.
Her mother works in a scrapbooking store and she got introduced to this type of art when she was about eleven years old. She bought a ton of supplies and did everything on paper.
When she came up to college, she saw some computer programs that allowed her to scrapbook digitally. Once she bought a program, it ended up being a lot cheaper than using the physical supplies.
She loved scrapbooking this way a lot more than she had done it in the past because it was faster, cheaper, and she was able to make really hard designs that she wasn't able to before. She eventually got her mother and sisters hooked on this program and now they all scrapbook this way.
The past couple of years, she has only been doing this for her personal family pictures. But because she is able to do it so much faster, she has all this extra time left over.
How many people are diligent about keeping their family photo albums up to date? Not many because it is time consuming and they like to put off things like that until tomorrow.
Unfortunately tomorrow never comes and they end up so far behind that it becomes way too overwhelming for them. And they never want to start.
My friend started realizing this after talking to some people and saw this as an opportunity to market her services. If she was able to advertise her abilities and show people some of her work, then she could get paid doing something she loved.
One of the best ways to advertise your company in the world today is through the internet. Almost everyone has access to a computer and several million people look at different websites every day.
So she decided to create a website online that would attract customers that are interested in scrapbook ideas. The first thing she needed to do was figure out exactly what kind of content she wanted on her website and everything that she wanted to include.
Creating a storyboard or outline for your website is like brainstorming and writing all your ideas down before you actually put it on the finished product. Having a partner to help you revise any mistakes that you have would help to make the final result even better.
After you figure out the content you want on your site, you need to organize it into topics so that you make all this information more user friendly. Start with broad topics and then you can narrow it down into smaller headings with sub categories.
This will help the people who visit your site be able to find the specific information that they are looking for. If your site does not use any of these organizational tools, no one will want to use it.
Planning out the content and how you are going to link all the information together is probably going to be the hardest part. But if you spend the time necessary on it to do a good job, then it will pay off in the end.
When you have all of the information planned out, then you can start putting it together and designing it in a way that will attract visitors to your site. You can start playing around with different colors and graphics.
A good way to test the layout is to imagine that you are a first time visitor to your site. Test out all of the links and navigate yourself around the page to see if it makes logical sense and is easy to use.
Have other friends and family go to your website and give you any feedback that they have. There are services out there to help you get started on creating your own website and they can help your website get higher rankings if you are serious about making your own company.
