When moving merchandise from Point A to Point B, one of the easiest ways to do it is with gravity conveyors. They are primarily used to move merchandise throughout the material handling supply chain. They come in a variety of styles and have several features.

The Function
Gravity conveyors are metal frames with rollers or wheels that convey products from one location to the next. on a slanted route. Gravity conveyors are used to transport product on a level push line or gravity pitched flow line.
They eliminate the need for lifting boxes from one location, stacking them on a cart or hand truck and wheeling them to another location. The energy exerted by humans to move the stock is eliminated. The work is done by gravity. The angled rack will hold the boxes. The wheels roll as the box slides across them, sending it downward to its destination. When it arrives, its momentum will be stopped by a stationary object or a landing area without rollers. The object can sit in storage at this point or be moved elsewhere, depending on what needs to be done with it.

The Size
One of the advantages of a gravity conveyor is that sections can be joined together to increase roller track length. For example, picture a rack that is seven feet long and connects a chute to a shelf. When there is no more room on it for additional boxes, another seven-foot track can be attached to the empty conveyor. the end of this one can be set up for another shelf where merchandise can land. Racks can be cut to proper length to properly fit the layout plan.

Mobile Storage
Sometimes, there is no more room left for merchandise to land in storage. There may be too many boxes and not enough space or a standstill to the process. Rather than backing up box after box, the gravity conveyors can be reconnected and aligned to run in an endless storage loop. They can remain on the conveyors until it is time for them to be shipped, picked or otherwise relocated.

The Durability
Most assemblies are made of strong metal, which enables the equipment to withstand the ridors of order picking operations.. They steel rollers, wheels and channel can withstand items being dropped or slammed onto them by people or machinery without bending or failing.

Storage Racks
When not transporting product conveyors can be used as conventional storage racks.
Conveyor sections can be used as storage lanes and pitched to flow product from a load point to pick point.. This increases space utilization within a facilty and increases pick rates.
