What items do you need to wash your car thoroughly? What cleaning products work the best on your car?

Washing your car can be a fun activity that you do with kids every week during the summer time. It is nice to go out on your front driveway with your swimsuit on and the bucket with soap and hose in hand.

It is refreshing to get squirted with the hose and nice cold water on a hot summer day. Your kids might not be a huge help to you actually washing the car, but it is very entertaining to play around with them and start to teach them how to wash cars.

After you get over the first few minutes of play time in the water, then you can start the process of washing your car. Before you bring the hose out, make sure that all the windows, doors, and trunks are closed.

You also want to make sure that your car is in the driveway or somewhere close to where the hose can reach. Feel free to put more than one car in the driveway so that you can kill two birds with one stone by washing both of the cars at the same time.

Put one or two capfuls of car soap into a bucket and fill it about one half of the way full. Then take the hose and begin to spray your car with water.

Start hosing off the top of the car and work your way down to the sides, windows, front, and back. Make sure you hose off the tires as well as you can because they are probably the dirtiest thing on your car and are very easy to miss.

Grab your sponge or old t-shirt or terry cloth rag and lather it up in the bucket. Bring it over the roof of the car and start scrubbing.

Try to reach the whole top of the car so you do not miss any spots. There are some devices that allow you to hook your sponge into and extend it out with a pole to make it longer and a lot easier to reach the middle of the roof.

After you have finished scrubbing the roof as well as you can, rinse it off with the hose again. If it is a hot sunny day outside, the water and soap on your car will dry fast and you do not want the soap to dry on the roof like that without being rinsed off properly.

Once the roof is taken care of, then you can start scrubbing one side of the car including the doors, windows, and handles. Make sure you are starting with a semi-wet car before you take a rag to it.

Again, after you are done washing one side of the car, take your hose and rinse it off before it has a chance to dry. Repeat this process with the remaining three sides of your vehicle, washing one side at a time and then rinsing it off before you begin the next side.

On the front and back of your car, make sure you get the lights, fenders, and corners really well before you move on to the rest. After you finished with all of the sides, you can then start on the tires.

As with the rest of the car, only tackle one tire at a time. You may have a special tire cleaner that you want to use, just do not get it on the rest of the car.

Rinse the first tire off and then take a rag to it and scrub as much of the tire as you can. You may want to use an old rag that you do not mind getting really dirty and black.

Rinse the tire off and proceed to the next three tires. Repeat this process making sure you rinse them off as well as you can.

If you start out with the correct items such as soap, water, bucket, and rags, then you will have everything you need to wash your car. Do not forget a couple of towels that you can use to dry your car off and get rid of any water spots to make your car shine.
